We have another special quilt by Granny Hallum.
This quilt was hand pieced, and machine quilted. It is a beautiful hexagon quilt. I love that she chose white as the divider color. It really makes all the rich colors stand out. This is a large quilt for such tiny hexagons. I can only imagine how much time she poured into this.
You can see the stitch-in-the-ditch method of machine quilting on the quilt.
I love being able to see the two tones on the back where she used two different sheets/thin cloth for the batting, and she had to piece them together. She pieced the back, which is white cotton. The backing is folded over to make the binding.
Based on the fabrics, I would say this was a later quilt that she made. This quilt is beautiful, and the amount of time it takes to hand piece hexagons makes me love it even more!
Thanks for stopping by to see it! Next week we will feature another quilt she made.
